NCR's Top End Adds E-Commerce

Joe Wilcox

Dayton, Ohio -- NCR Corp. is strengthening its Top End middleware software with features attractive to systems integrators and resellers building electronic-commerce solutions.

Support for Java applets and local Java applications and cryptography services from RSA Data Security Inc., Redwood City, Calif., bolsters the product's strength as an E-commerce platform.

"Our partners are trying to leverage the product into new markets, such as downloaded music CDs at kiosks," said Roger Fraumann, business development director for the Top End Product Center. One VAR said the changes, "such as the ability to add video transactions and to do typical E-commerce transactions," make Top End more modern.

Developers looking to add distributed transaction-object services to Internet and intranet applications will benefit from the new release, said Reier Torgerson, director of product management for NCR's Computer Systems Group, in a statement.

Version 2.05 is available through Dayton-based NCR's distribution channel.
