Entrust Technologies Announces New Security Partnerships
By Rutrell Yasin

Entrust Technologies is aiming to enhance its security lineup with a slew of partnerships that were announced today at the RSA Data Security Conference.

The Nortel subsidiary offers a family of products that lets companies deploy public key infrastructures, secure desktop files, issue Web certificates, and encrypt and digitally sign e-commerce transactions over the Internet.

The company has a cross-development, cross-licensing, and cross-distribution agreement with Symantec that will result in a suite of security applications for desktop computers. The initial phase of the partnership will bear fruit in the first quarter with file and folder boot encryption, antivirus, and secure screensaver tools.

Partnerships with TimeStep and Milkyway Networks will yield remote access security tools.

Meanwhile, Entrust will look to shore up its single sign-on solutions through relationships with Axent Technologies, CyberSafe, Gradient Technologies, and Memco Software, according to the company.

In addition, Entrust will launch a program called Insource, which will let users become their own certificate authorities instead of outsourcing the task. Entrust will provide the personnel to assist users in this effort.
