Mykotronix Readies Secure Modems
Mykotronix Inc. earlier this week introduced several security products for further protecting online communications.
Included in the Torrance, Calif., company's new offerings are a cryptographic PC Card for encrypting data on notebooks, and a new cryptographic modem.
The Fortezza Plus Crypto Card secures network transactions and devices including hard disk drives, CD-ROMs and other media using the Fortezza specification. It will work with any PC Card-enabled device including notebooks, palm computers, and cellular devices, said officials of Mykotronix, a subsidiary of Rainbow Technologies Inc.
The Fortezza Plus card will be available later this month. Pricing was not available.
For ciphering communications, Mykotronix introduced the Fordesza, a PC Card which combines modem functionality and a cryptographic engine.
The name of the card is a mashing of the two encryption specifications the card uses: Fortezza and DES (Digital Encryption Standard), said officials.
The modem supports 33.6K-bps, V.34 connections. Security features include personal identification numbers for user authentication, digital signatures, public key cryptography and Secure Hash Algorithm, which protects data against tampering.
The Fordesza PC Card modem also ships later this month. Pricing was not available.
