RSA Data Security Adds NCR, Marimba as Licensees

[November 7] Dayton, OH-based NCR said it joined forces with RSA Data Security Inc. to deliver encryption technology for TOP END, NCR's enterprise middleware product.

In addition, Redwood City, CA-based Marimba Inc. said it incorporated RSA's encryption technology into its Castanet 2.0 suite of products that simplify the distribution of software over intranets, extranets, and the Internet.

NCR said it will hold RSA source code for porting with TOP END in multivendor, multioperating system environments. By adding RSA security functionality to Castanet, Marimba said it significantly reduced the security risks of distributing applications over the Internet, enabling enterprises to more safely deploy value-added services, streamline operations, and reduce application management costs and complexities. Financial details for both deals were not disclosed.

NCR said the alliance advances its strategic commitment to global electronic commerce with emphasis on distributed enterprise and Internet/intranet solutions.

"Powered by RSA's BSAFE encryption engine, TOP END is the vehicle that can now transport business information more securely over the information super-highway," said Jim Bidzos, president of RSA Security.

TOP END is a messaging and application management system that facilitates large-scale, electronic commerce applications including: home banking, call centers, Internet commerce, and relationship banking.
