Look for significant announcements from Entrust Technologies over the next few weeks aimed at solidifying the Ottawa-based company's role as a Certification Authority (CA) and public-key management provider. The Nortel subsidiary has been a driving force behind the Internet Engineering Task Force's PKIX3 interoperability standard for CAs. PKIX3 this week should receive the IETF's final stamp of approval, paving the way for Entrust and its industry partners to announce full support of the standard, according to John Ryan, president and CEO of Entrust. The company is also expected to add to its growing list of users, which now includes companies such as Bank of Nova Scotia, JP Morgan and The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. It also plans to roll out security tools for mainframe and network computers. Entrust software combines encryption and digital signature functions with automated key management. (www.entrust.com)
