Ukiah Firewall Supports LDAP

By Salvatore Salamone and Rutrell Yasin

Ukiah Software this week will take the wraps off NetRoad Firewall 2.0, which includes support for LDAP. Administrators can manage Firewall 2.0, which runs on Windows NT or NetWare 4.x servers, through directory services. Third-party support also is a big theme in the new version. New APIs allow for better integration between NetRoad Firewall and Web filtering products from NetPartners Internet Solutions and Secure Computing; antivirus software from Symantec Corp. and eSafe Technologies; and virtual private network tools from TimeStep. NetPartner's WebSense and Secure Computing's SmartFilter make it easier to block access to inappropriate Web sites. Tighter integration with Symantec's Norton AntiVirus for Firewalls software gives the product added protection from viruses spread through the Internet. Better scanning of E-mail files is available through eSafe's ViruSafe Firewall. Integration with TimeStep's Permit network security tool lets companies send confidential information securely over the Internet. NetRoad Firewall 2.0 for Windows NT and for NetWare are available now. Pricing begins at $995.
