Integrion, CheckFree Announce Long-Term E-Commerce Initiative
[October 29] Integrion Financial Network announced today a 10-year partnership with CheckFree Corp. to develop an end-to-end Internet billing and payment system.
Under the agreement, Integrion's Interactive Financial Services (IFS) electronic commerce framework will be integrated with CheckFree's electronic payment processing system.
The joint e-commerce initiative will support Integrion's "GOLD" Message Standard, an open protocol for connecting financial institutions' core systems with various end-user products.
The two companies will also work with IBM, Integrion's primary technology partner, to build a next-generation banking, billing, and presentment infrastructure, using Integrion's GOLD and IFS technologies and CheckFree's processing engine.
In addition, CheckFree will be the primary supplier of Integrion's back-end electronic billing and processing services, and Integrion's IFS platform will be the preferred infrastructure for CheckFree's electronic transactions.
"Consumers expect to get electronic financial services from their bank, and our agreement today enables banks to fulfill that expectation without the risk of disintermediation," said William M. Fenimore Jr., managing director of Integrion. "Integrion and CheckFree are committed to providing solutions that are bank-owned and bank-controlled."
